Summer lovers, they have a blast. Every summer we see movie romances, in superhero movies and kids’ cartoons as well as romantic comedies. One thing most popcorn movie romances have in common: The lovers are white.

Watching Barack Obama give an extraordinary speech at the Victory Column in Berlin, Germany today, I couldn’t help recalling another great African-American who was once applauded in Berlin: Jesse Owens.
